Just wanted to let you know tomorrow IS Board Game Day. This was not on our calendar, but the kids asked if we could, so..... we can! They have worked so hard this year. Time for some rewards!!!
It is hard to believe that we only have 4 1/2 days of school left.
A huge shout out to all of the parents who came to help with Field Day and a special thanks to Mrs. Burnette, who went with my class all afternoon after having done her own for the morning, since the doctor has not released me to be outside for extended amounts of time. Thanks also to J.D. and Tammy Adams for the drinks and all the treats they provided. I wish I had as much energy as J.D. :)
I also want to thank the Aaron and Bridgett Officer, in advance, for providing water for Jumpy Toy day!
Here is a brief schedule of our next few days.
On Monday we will have our turn with the Jumpy Toys from 9:30 - 10:30.
On Wednesday we will have a very short program performed by our 2nd graders. There will be a song, a short slide show, and a few memories. A note strip went home in their binders on Friday. We will perform for the Kindergarten and 1st grade at 9:00 and for the parents at 1:00. Please feel free to come to either one.
Thursday morning we will recognize perfect attendance and pass out report cards. Official dismissal time is 11:00.
During these last few days we will still be practicing our multiplication, finishing our division chapter in math, and working on our writing. The kids decided they wanted to put on some puppet shows for each other. They have been creating puppets and writing scripts for several days. It is so much fun for me to see how they've grown and are truly ready for 3rd grade.
You can help them stay ready for 3rd by having them read, read, read, practice their math facts, and read, read, read some more! OK, enough preaching! ENJOY your summer!!!
We will be finishing up the last story in our reading series this week. We have already completed all of the spelling tests. We have one more comprehension, ABC order, and vocabulary test for this year. WE MADE IT!!!! I am so proud of all of my students this year! We have worked hard and I think they are as ready for third grade as they can be at this point. Please KEEP THEM READING all summer long! This is where they falter when school starts back because they haven't been reading. If it is too much trouble to go to the public library, then there are several on-line programs that they can use to read from the computer. Just keep them r
We had a great group of moms here for our "Muffin's with Mom" event this morning. I appreciate each one of you. Thank you for letting me be a part of your wonderful child's life! Have a happy and blessed Mother's Day!
Please check the calendar today and often these last few weeks as things get added quickly. You won't want to miss some of these wonderful last days for your child to be at Yates Primary.
This will be the last week for a formal spelling test for this year. YAY! We made it!
In writing, the task for this nine weeks is to write a research paper. Ms. Johnson is working with us on the correct way to cite a reference (they have to have 2 references). We will continue work on this in class during these last 13 1/2 days.
In addition, we must also complete our 4th nine weeks' assessments.
Don't forget to return your Mother's Day invitation tomorrow. It will be this Friday, May 11, from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. If you can't come, you may send a guest in your place.
Testing resumed today. We took a timed math test (10 minutes) and most got finished with 100 math facts! YAY us!
If you have not returned the green form letting the school know your intentions for next year, please do so immediately!
Don't forget to check their binders each day to find out what's going on at school and in our classroom. We have been busy with Tcap and now need to get our final report card assessments underway. We have less than three weeks to complete everything. Please make every effort to have your child at school each day. We haven't stopped yet.....
